What will happen if you remove the course?

When you will remove the course you will no longer be a part of it. After completing the French course, I thought to remove it. Unfortunately, I also lost all the XP, I have received from it. Not only that, I also lost the progress I had made and the crows I had earned. The only thing that stayed were the gems. Undoubtedly, the achievements I unlocked in the course. It was very disappointing for me and I tried to add the course back. I thought I would receive everything back. But I have to start from the beginning without getting the XP score back. The only thing that I could do was to take the placement test.

When should you think of deleting the course?

As a daily Duolingo user, I will never want to lose my XP score or the progress made so far. Unfortunately, the truth is keeping so many courses usually confuses me. Thus I thought a lot and finally got to understand when should I delete the course-

1. The progress made is too low

As I am a big fan of Games of Thrones, I took the High Valyrian course out of curiosity. But unfortunately, I was not able to maintain my progress. Similarly, there may be chances that you may have taken the course and made little progress in it. But after that never open it. Thus you may want to remove it from the list of taken courses.

2. You may be placed incorrectly in the course

In one of my courses, I lost a league, which was demotivating, but you know what was more annoying Duolingo put me up on a level that was just too easy for me. I mean how could get so underestimated when I was doing all my other things? On the other hand, in my French course, when I was in the learning stage, I eventually was doing really well with the leagues. The team started keeping me at a tough level that I was not familiar with. Due to it, I was pissed off and removed the courses. If something similar has happened to you, make sure not to lose your motivation when you are placed wrongly.

3. Cluttering

When I started learning a language, I added languages that I never ever thought of learning. I know you can relate to me. This is the story of every language learner. In starting everyone is curious to learn multiple languages. However, having such a long list can be a distraction for you. Therefore, you must try to delete some of the courses that you think are not important.

Why can’t I remove a course from another language?

Duolingo is an online platform and it is possible that there are technical glitches at times. When I wanted to remove the course, I was unable to do it through my mobile app. But when I checked on the desktop, it was easily removed. I tried to find out what had just happened. I got to know it was just a technical glitch. However, it is not always related to the technical problems. Whenever you are trying to remove a course, you must make sure that you have completed the first lesson of it. Even if you are unable to remove the course, simply send an email to the team of Duolingo. They will surely remove it.

Conclusion

Duolingo is one such platform where you can take multiple languages. Ultimately, people end up taking a lot of unnecessary courses. I am a person who always looks for Duolingo before learning the language. Due to this, there were so many courses on my list. So I decided to remove them. If you are also thinking of removing it, you must remember that it will depend upon how you are using it. Here, I have mentioned the steps for every kind of user, However, remember if you remove the course, you will also lose the progress and XP points.
